Rap's New Generation (Collector's Fold-Out).
Released in June 1998, Issue #105 of The Source captured the changing of the guard in real time. To showcase the regional kings of the new era, the magazine printed a rare, 3-page fold-out cover featuring DMX (East Coast), Silkk the Shocker (Down South), and Kurupt (West Coast).
Landing just weeks after DMX dropped It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, this issue is a critical snapshot of hip-hop's shifting power dynamics as it approached the millennium. Finding this specific issue with the fold-out cover still fully attached and intact is increasingly rare, as most were torn out and used as posters in the late 90s. (Bonus: The back cover features a vintage 1998 Calvin Klein 'cK one' fragrance advertisement).
Condition Disclosure (Please Read):
This is a raw, vintage reading copy. The 3-page fold-out cover is 100% attached and intact. However, due to the mechanical nature of the fold-out design, there is prominent color-breaking creasing along the vertical fold hinge (most visible across DMX's face). The white back cover exhibits typical handling wear, light dimpling, and minor edge stress. The interior pages are complete. It has not been professionally graded. Please review all photos carefully before purchasing.
